A museum that does not renew itself, that does not undergo transformation , that does not advance, dies out and falls into oblivion. The inauguration of the painting studio of Baron Rodolphe d'Erlanger - following its restoration and museographic refurbishment – is a timely event which is expected to give a new impetus to the museographic activity of the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music.
The inauguration ceremony of the workspace of the baron /painter Monday, February 15th was a beautiful event.
The presence of the Minister of Culture and at least three ambassadors (Japan, France, Switzerland) and the President of the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, sponsor of this project, as well as many men and women of culture (artists, musicians, architects ...) politicians and businessmen has confirmed the interest that this event has stirred since the announcement of the imminent reopening of the studio to visitors of the Ennejma Ezzahra palace.
The bet will be fully won, if this new project managed to attract a new audience to this beautiful jewel of Arab-Islamic architecture and to inspire an audience that already knows the palace to revisit it . This project should also attract the attention of plastic art teachers, who will find in it a great educational tool to help their students discover he studio and the works of a painter whose artistic career took largely place in Tunisia and who’s production was dedicated thereto.
For the Centre of Arab and Mediterranean Music, this project will mark a starting point to revitalize and restore the image of its museum activity, which may have suffered during the last two decades of the primacy of musical activity
