Metamorphoses of ud

This book (280 pages) suggests a different reading of the historical and organological evolution of ‘ud (Arab-Oriental lute), but also the facets of its practice from the second half of the 20th century to present. Its author, Hamdi Makhlouf, lutenist, composer, performer and assistant professor at the Higher Institute of Music of Tunis, highlights a concomitant relationship between two variables: the development of the morphology of the instrument and the evolution of interpretation and musical composition.
