This book (280 pages) suggests a different reading of the historical and organological evolution of ‘ud (Arab-Oriental lute), but also the facets of its practice from the second half of the 20^th century to present. Its author, Hamdi Makhlouf, lutenist, composer, performer and assistant professor at the Higher Institute of Music of Tunis, highlights a concomitant relationship between two variables: the development of the morphology of the instrument and the evolution of interpretation and musical composition.
